The Gracefool girls excel in taking such observations, of the ‘feminine’ mannerisms of a bride, or the growing anxiety of an event organiser, and making them just that little bit larger than life without quite crossing the boundary into parody and slapstick – until they’re good and ready to do so.

This is not a wedding is Gracefool Collective's new work, still under progress. Previously scratched at Bolton Octagon (March 2017) and Northern Connections (September 2017) the piece will be fully produced in Autumn 2018.

This is not a wedding. This is a celebration. A commemoration if you will. A salutation, a jollification, a jubilation. It’s not a wedding but it is an honouring, a marking of something important and profound. It’s really just a kind of revelry. It’s not a wedding it’s simply a gathering to frolic in the tradition of a jubilee gala ceremony for a recognition of the coming of age coming together for wo-man-kind and all kinds of humankind.

This is also not a finished piece. Its an unfinished symphony. A kind of half finished work in progress coming together to share a segment of a longer more fabulous symphony.

We hope you enjoy yourselves. Because we all need a bit of joy to help us forget about the impending doom of the coming apocalypse.

But it’s not our responsibility if you don’t.

Gracfool Collective is developing an increasingly distinctive, highly entertaining form of dance theatre and comedy that is also incisive and provocative in its questioning of contemporary social politics, viewed from the female perspective.
